Ein Almin Officers’ Pool in the Golan Heights

Our visit to Ein Almin Officers’ Pool, with access directions, history, safety advice and the best time to arrive.

Ein Almin Officers’ Pool in the Golan Heights

Ein Almin is one of the Golan Heights' most inviting spring pools: clear water, tall eucalyptus trees and a green setting that feels secluded despite the relatively simple approach. It can become crowded in summer, but we arrived during a quieter period and had the place almost to ourselves.

What is the Ein Almin Officers' Pool?

The spring feeds a rectangular concrete pool, one of several so-called officers' pools in the Golan Heights. Pools of this kind were built during the Syrian period to collect spring water. A large abandoned Syrian military post also stands nearby. The Ministry of Defense announced in 2025 that mine clearance had been completed in the adjacent post area.

The history adds interest, but the pool itself remains an open, unsupervised nature site. There is no lifeguard or rescue service, and access and water conditions can change.

Our experience

The water was so clear that we could see the bottom of the pool. Combined with the shade and greenery, the cold water made this much more than a quick photo stop. The people in our group who entered the water loved it.

Summer weekends and holidays can feel very different. Arrive early or choose a weekday if a quiet visit matters to you. Even when the water looks clean, check current reports and never assume that conditions remain unchanged throughout the year.

Getting there

A dirt road leads from Road 888 toward the spring. From the parking point, a very short descent brings you to the pool. Dirt-road conditions can deteriorate after rain, so drive slowly and decide where it is sensible to park your vehicle.

The site is simple and open. Do not expect changing rooms, a kiosk or organized bathing facilities.

Safety and responsible visiting

  • There is no lifeguard; entering the water is entirely at your own risk.

  • Check the depth before entering and never jump blindly into the pool.

  • Concrete edges and rocks may be slippery.

  • Stay on established access routes and do not enter fenced or marked areas.

  • Take all rubbish away with you.

Our verdict

Ein Almin is small and uncomplicated, and that is part of its appeal. We came for clear water, greenery and a quiet break, and it delivered all three. Choose your arrival time carefully, respect the safety rules and help keep the spring clean.
