Nice: Place Masséna, the Promenade des Anglais and Sunset from Castle Hill
We spent one of the most beautiful evenings on the trip facing the sea in Nice. We started at Massena Square, went on a view from the Belanda Tower and went for a walk on the English promenade. From above we saw the city and the rounded coastline at sunset, and then joined the hikers along the water.

Massena Square and Fountains
In Massena Square we stopped to look at the colorful facades and Apollo statue, and watch the street musicians and artists who appeared on the scene. Near the square children and adults were toying among the water jets. It was hot, and it seemed a successful way to freshen up.

The square is a good point of connection between the city centre and The Old City You can visit it in the morning on the way to the market, and then spend the evening hours at sea and on observation so you don't have to do all the walking in one sequence.
Rise to the Belanda Tower
When we arrived at the Belanda tower the elevator was closed, so we went up the stairs. The climb was not particularly difficult for us, and on the way we could already see some of the view. In the heat it is worth to slowly go up and stock up. On top we met many more hikers who came to watch the sunset.

We enjoyed coming to the end of the day, when the light was softer. It is worth getting up a little early for sunset, so as to get up calmly and find a place to stop. If you need an elevator, check in advance if it runs and what hours of access are available for observation.
Go down to the boardwalk.
The English Boardwalk is named after the British vacationers who came to Nice in the 19th century to spend the winter there. In 1824, a walk along the coast was initiated by the Reverend Louis Way, which was also intended to provide work for the residents. The trail has been extended over the years and has become the most familiar promenade today.
After the observation we went down to the Promenade des Anglais. Also in the evening there were people in the water, and on the promenade couples, families and groups of friends were strolling. The restaurants and entertainment venues kept a lively atmosphere, and the walk by the sea was a successful end to the day.

Another evening we also walked between the streets and the lighted buildings in the city center. You can continue there after the promenade if you still have power, but the observation and walking by the sea is also enough for a pleasant evening outing.

This route can be combined on the first day of The Riviera Tour Or go out to it in the evening after returning from Antibes We're on.ibis Nice Centre Gare, near Nice-Ville station, and we found that the location is convenient for both train and city trips.
