Milwaukee Art Museum

Milwaukee Art Museum is impressive before you even step inside. Its lakefront setting and moving wings are part of the experience, but leave time for the collection rather than coming only for an exterior photograph. For me, it is one of the city’s strongest reasons to visit.

The collection included painting, decorative arts, video, textiles and sculpture, including American art and German Expressionism.

The wings’ noon movement depends on weather and operating conditions. Check current visitor information, including exhibitions and guided tours, rather than assuming an hourly tour. A relaxed lakefront walk makes a good addition.
