Rila Monastery

Rila Monastery is one of Bulgaria’s important cultural and religious sites. Allow time for the museum as well as the courtyard and church. Outside the complex is an area with stalls and places to eat; we recommend trying mekitsa, a fried pastry dusted with icing sugar.

The museums have their own admission and visiting arrangements. Tickets are purchased on site, so do not assume that a transfer booking includes every exhibition. Check the official opening and visitor information.
