Huntsville: a relaxed stop beside the water

A main street, galleries and a pleasant pause on the way north.

Huntsville was a pleasant town to stop in as we travelled north. It had an atmosphere that reminded us of a small American town.

The name comes from George Hunt, who settled in the area in 1869. That settler history sits within a much longer Indigenous history of the surrounding lands.
We parked near the boat moorings and an attractive park, then walked into town. The proximity of the water and main street makes the visit straightforward.

We were not trying to cover a long list of attractions. Browsing, looking into galleries and walking around were enough.

Start around the main street and waterfront, and keep the length of the visit flexible. Check opening hours if particular shops or galleries matter to you.
Huntsville is in Muskoka and works well on a journey towards Algonquin Park. It is not inside the park, so leave time for the onward drive.
Practical notes
Allow for the drive onward to Algonquin.
The main street and waterfront work well together on foot.
