A festival finale in Quebec City: covers and fireworks

A wonderful evening after exploring Old Quebec.
After roughly two to three hours wandering through Old Quebec, we continued to the waterfront for the finale of a major summer festival. An excellent covers band was followed by about half an hour of wonderful fireworks.

It was one of those evenings when a city event adds something that cannot be recreated by a list of permanent attractions.
Quebec City’s setting is special even without a stage. Founded in 1608, its historic centre, fortifications and river views give an evening here an unusually rich backdrop.

This was a particular festival event during our stay, not a show that takes place every evening. Future visitors need to check their own dates.
When you find an event like this, leave enough time to enjoy it rather than arranging an immediate onward drive.
For us, the band and fireworks were an excellent end to the day. They followed naturally from the cheerful streets and performers we had enjoyed in Old Quebec.
Practical notes
Our fireworks display lasted about half an hour.
Check the current event programme; this was not a daily show.
