Spruce Bog Boardwalk: an easy short loop in Algonquin

A pleasant walk through a different side of the park’s landscape.

We walked the short circular Spruce Bog Boardwalk trail. It was pleasant and enjoyable, without needing to dedicate the entire day to a long hike.
Parts of the trail use wooden boardwalks through a bog. The loop is about 1.5 kilometres, allowing a gentle walk with pauses to look around.

The interest here is often in smaller details: bog vegetation, water and a habitat different from the taller forest. Staying on the path protects that sensitive environment.

For us, it worked as one part of a varied day, alongside the Logging Museum and canoeing.

Wear shoes with grip. Even an easy trail can have slippery wooden surfaces after rain, so take your time.
For visitors looking for a short, undemanding walk in Algonquin, this is an appealing option. The pleasure is in the walk and the close-up landscape.
