Carter's House, Franklin

Carter House was built around 1830. During the Battle of Franklin on November 30, 1864, the Carter family, neighbours and people enslaved by the family sheltered in its basement. The tour was good, though the guide’s enthusiasm for the battle details felt excessive to me. Check tour options and hours and allow time to consider the human experience, not just battlefield movements.
