Centennial Park

The Parthenon was originally built for Tennessee’s 1897 Centennial Exposition, reflecting Nashville’s identity as the “Athens of the South.” The temporary building was later rebuilt in permanent materials, with work completed in 1931. We arrived after opening hours and admired it from outside. We also saw the women’s suffrage monument in the park.

An old locomotive used to lead trains from Tennessee to St. Louis stands as a memory in his corner. A lake with ducks and beautiful blossoms complements the pleasant atmosphere and makes it ideal for an enjoyable afternoon stroll.
