Michie Tavern

Michie Tavern served as an inn and tavern from 1784 and was relocated near Monticello in 1927. We stopped for a meal before heading to the airport and enjoyed both the atmosphere and Southern food. The buffet includes fried chicken, smoked pork, stewed tomatoes, black-eyed peas and buttermilk biscuits. Lunch currently runs from 11:30 am to 3 pm; check the menu and hours before visiting.

It really feels like sitting in an 18th-century tavern.
