Our visit

At Shibuya Crossing we watched the streets fill and empty again and again. We returned at night, when giant screens, music and crowds made the experience even more intense.

For us, the point was not simply to cross once. We stopped to watch from street level and above, and to absorb the energy of the district.

What to know

The crossing sits immediately outside Shibuya Station and connects major shopping, dining and entertainment areas. It is an active public space rather than a timed attraction.

Planning the visit

Combine one daytime view with another after dark. During busy periods, keep belongings close and avoid stopping in the middle of the crossing for photographs.
