The Lighthouse Glasgow

The Lighthouse was a particularly rewarding stop on our 2017 Glasgow visit. The architecture and design centre connected Mackintosh’s work with a lovely view over the city. Climbing the spiral staircase was part of the experience, and the rooftops made the effort worthwhile.

The building’s role has since changed. The council approved a lease to Sustainable Ventures for a climate-tech hub with public-access provisions. Regular viewpoint opening hours were not verified in our September 2026 check. Confirm visiting arrangements before coming. For now, you can see the exterior on Mitchell Lane and explore Mackintosh’s interiors at the Hunterian’s Mackintosh House.
