UVA - University of Virginia
The University of Virginia was founded in 1819. At its heart is Thomas Jefferson’s Academical Village: the Rotunda, Lawn, ten pavilions and the rooms alongside them. The pavilions are individual architectural compositions, not ten corridors. The university’s historic core and Monticello form one World Heritage Site.
The Rotunda
The Rotunda was damaged by fire in 1895 and rebuilt afterwards. Later changes and restorations included the project completed in 2016. I enjoyed the tour with Liat and her colleagues and returned alone to spend more time among the gardens, buildings and room associated with Edgar Allan Poe.

The ten pavilions housed faculty, with student rooms alongside the Lawn.
