Changing the Guard does not take place every day. The official Household Division calendar lists 11am at Buckingham Palace, with preparations and marching starting earlier. Check the calendar for your visit date and arrive early. Tourists from all over the world come to watch the ceremony. Seeing what is happening in the palace courtyard is challenging because the tourists are crowding the railings. Still, you can stand in all the surrounding areas, where it is much less crowded, and watch the guards pass by, with the orchestra and according to all the rules of the ceremony.

Worth it for anyone coming to London for the first time.
