Gourdon: A Small Village with a Big View

From the parking lot to the alleys

We left the car in the large parking lot at the entrance and continued on foot. The village is small, and you can walk around for about half an hour to an hour. If you want to sit down to eat or linger in the shops, it is best to make more time.

On the way to the observation deck we passed galleries and shops of sweets, nougat and jams. The colorful windows of display stood out between the stone houses. There is no need for a detailed route within the village: it is pleasant to walk around the streets and stop according to the matter.

Underneath the village passes the Chemin du Paradis, the "Paradise Trail", an old mule trail connecting Gordon to the Pont du Loop. Before the relatively comfortable ride in the car, the road between the settlements was made on foot and in freight animals. Gordon is suitable for stopping on the day of a trip between the villages. You can make do with a short tour and observation, or stay for a meal in front of the view. With us it was the last stop before the trip to the hotel.
