Saut du Loup Waterfalls: A Short Stop Between the Villages

On the way from Tourette-sur-Loup To Gordon We stopped at the Saut du Loup Falls. This is a short visit to the water and cliff observation, suitable for the day-long phase of travel between the villages. After walking in the alleys, it was pleasant to stop also by the river.

What do you see in the stop?

From the observation we saw water running through the walls of the rock and falling from several directions around the central waterfall. The rocks are close together, and the water fills the small crevice. We stopped to look and photograph, without going on a long walking path.

One of the known formations is called the Grande Marmite, the "Great Pot". It is a natural basin formed from the erosion of the rock by water. It is also worth paying attention to the sediments and shapes in the rocks around the falls: they illustrate how the flow has shaped the place over time.

We would not devote a whole day to the place, but as a stop along the way it was very suitable for us. He added a short visit to the day of the villages, without requiring much time or walking. The intensity of the flow varies, so the appearance may be different in other seasons.

It is best to come with coins.

At the time of our visit, the entrance to the observatory cost one euro, and the machine received only coins. At the nearby soap shop, we were helped to get a coin after paying on credit. The next time we would just arrive with a few small coins in our wallet.

More examples of small payments along the way are listed in The Money Guide in France.

Arrive at ease

To the falls we arrived in a rented car, which we chose after comparing prices and conditions in DiscoverCars The road in the area is convoluted and narrow, and parts of it have no margin. It is worth planning where to stop and park in a regulated location. After the visit we continued to Gordon, for a wide view of the view from above.
