Monument to Catherine the Great

The monument to Catherine II, Catherine the Great, was erected in 1873 in Ostrovsky Square near Nevsky Prospekt. The empress stands above a group of prominent figures from her reign. The Alexandrinsky Theatre is behind it, with a pleasant garden around the monument for a pause while exploring the centre.
