Prophet Elijah Church Thessaloniki

The Church of Prophet Elijah, Profitis Ilias, makes a worthwhile stop on the way to the Upper Town. It belongs to the late Byzantine, Palaiologan period. Its form, domes and surviving decoration reflect the religious architecture of that era.

Combine it with a walk through Ano Poli, without assuming the interior is open at every hour. It remains a place of worship; dress respectfully and be considerate of worshippers.
