The Museum of Political History of Russia in St Petersburg

The Museum of Political History of Russia in St Petersburg

Boaz entered out of curiosity without planning a visit, and it became one of the trip’s best surprises. The exhibitions he saw in 2018 explored the tsars, reforms, uprisings and revolution. Two hours covered only part of them; allow three to four if the subject interests you.

The museum combines two mansions. One was built in 1904–1906 for ballerina Mathilda Kshesinskaya, designed by Alexander von Hohen. It housed a Bolshevik headquarters in 1917 and was used by Lenin during his political activities.

English interpretation and an audio guide helped us during our visit. Check the, including available languages.
