In the small Druze village Buqataa in the Golan Heights, there is an excellent Druze restaurant named Nasiba Druze Home Chef.
As you sit down, more and more dishes that characterize Druze cuisine arrive at the table. All fresh and tasty - different types of salads, bulgur, makluba, majadara, pita bread stuffed with spinach, kebab, rice with almonds, and a wonderful dessert (I forgot its name…) - nuts and cheese in the deep-fried dough and coated with sugar syrup - dreamy.
Nasiba is the chef, an amazing woman who is an excellent cook. She built her own empire in a very conservative and patriarchal society. The guests are welcome to hear her fascinating life story, demonstrating what it is like to be a groundbreaking feminist in a traditional community.
Enjoy🤗
