On our trip, we decided to sleep one night in Idaho Springs, a good place in the middle between Grand Lake and Denver. Idaho Springs has other advantages: it is very close to Echo Lake and Mount Evans, which we wanted to visit, and the town itself served as a significant technological center during the gold rush, with the operation of Argo Mills & Tunnel, where tours can be held.
