A Holiday in Northern Cyprus: Elexus Resort

An enormous, beautiful and indulgent resort in northern Cyprus. This is our account of staying at Elexus.

The hotel website

Our stay:

The hotel is in the northern part of Cyprus, near Kyrenia.

After three visits to southern Cyprus, this time I wanted to recommend a stay in the north. We received a warm welcome at the hotel, including a greeting in Hebrew, and enjoyed the relaxed family atmosphere. This describes our visit, not a current safety assessment.

We landed in Larnaca and our transfer to the hotel took about an hour and a half. The hotel could arrange a paid transfer. We passed checkpoints on the journey and our passports were checked. Confirm current entry and crossing requirements before traveling, and check insurance and cross-boundary permission if renting a car.

During our stay, full board included five generous buffet meals a day, soft drinks and wine. Mineral water and Turkish tea were available without an additional charge in the restaurants and bars. There was plenty for children, including fries, chicken bites, pasta, pancakes and an ice cream stand. Packages and inclusions can change; confirm your booking conditions.

There were also additional paid restaurants and a bistro. Check current opening hours with the hotel.

The resort had five pools, poolside bars and a large water park.

The hotel offered eleven room categories, most facing the sea.

On the resort beach, loungers and umbrellas were included during our stay, both on the sand and on the deck with ladders into the water.

Private cabanas cost extra. They had sofas, a mini-fridge, towels, charging sockets, a shower area and curtains for privacy, as well as a hammock over the water.

Other facilities:

A spa offering treatments, a Turkish hammam, saunas and a hot tub, together with two pools and a gym.

During our visit, the children's club catered for ages 4-12, with babysitting available on advance reservation. Confirm current age limits, reservation requirements and hours before booking.

There was also a casino in the hotel complex.

For travelers who want to go beyond the resort, Kyrenia, Nicosia and Famagusta are possible outings. These are suggestions, not a claim that we visited them on this holiday.
