St. Mary Basilica, Gdansk

St Mary’s Basilica stands in Gdańsk’s Main Town, within walking distance of the Long Market. We found the exterior especially impressive; the interior appealed to us less than some other churches we had visited in Poland.

The tower climb is what we remember most: more than 400 steps, with narrow passages along parts of the route. Allow for the effort involved, although we felt the view justified it. Check the church and tower opening arrangements before going; they need not share the same visiting hours.
