- HaBsor Reserve
The Western Negev is charming this season, and it is really worth visiting and enjoying the desert views. This time I want to recommend a stunning scenic road and a nature reserve - HaBsor Reserve. Like any scenic route, this is a trip that combines travel and walking - stopping from time to time at different points, climbing, hiking, returning to the car, and - to the next point. Habsor Reserve - a trip of 18.5 km, a path with stones suitable for private cars. Here are some great places to see and hike along the way: 📌 At the beginning of the road (if entering from the direction of Tel Shorhan), there are mountains not very high that are really fun to climb. The view from the summit is impressive. Just sitting there and listening to the silence is remarkable. 📌 The borders of the Badlands: there are Hiking trails where you can still see clusters of squills, descend unpaved roads to the Besor River and hike in the beauty of the desert. 📌 Tel Sharuhan (Pharaoh) - Beautiful view of the area with the possibility to walk down towards Ein Shorhan. 📌 The Pipe Bridge: A great place for kids who enjoy running back and forth. 📌 Swings in the middle of the desert 📌 Rope bridge: connects two banks of Nahal Besor. From the bridge, you can watch lots of turtles in the stream that flows below. Across the bridge, you will find a beautiful vantage point over the desert. Along the trip, you decide on the level of difficulty and the things you want to see. Along the route, there are many points where you can spread out a blanket and have a picnic under one of the trees. In front of the tube bridge, there are also some picnic tables. - HaBsor National Park (Eshkol Park)
A vast and beautiful park in the south. There are many river water ponds, lawns, and places to barbeque. The central location of interest is the springs area. This is a combination of natural swimming pools, some with shallow water. In the main pool, the water is knee-high. There is also a beautiful fishpond (to which the travelers cannot enter). Beyond that, there is an amusement garden and bicycle paths. Another interesting point is a wooden bridge and the railroad tunnels that perpetuates an iron railway during the British Mandate. The night parking is fully equipped. Enjoy🤗 For more trips - HaBesor Reserve is nearby.
- Three Great Spots in Ramon Crater
A great easy trip for the whole family, consisting of short walks at three beautiful spots in the area. 📌Haminsara: This is a hill around which you can see a rare geological phenomenon: rocks that look like tree trunks sawn in a carpentry shop. These are the sawmills. A short floating path (250 m) made of recycled material leads to the top of the hill - this is a short walk in the fantastic view next to the prisms. The trail is dedicated to a geologist named Gadi Eran, who fell in the First Lebanon War. 📌Wind, stone and water: A short drive from the sawmill will take you to a quarry with colored sands. Parents love to come there with small children to fill bottles in the sand. The sands there range from yellow-brown to something between brown and light purple. It is a beauty of activity for children when it is not too hot. Do not forget to bring empty and dry bottles, a spoon, wipes for cleaning (and bless me later on these tips ... 😄). 📌From there, I suggest continuing a bit of the journey to the ammonite wall. It is a part of a massive rock on which fossils of marine invertebrates can be seen. Inside the stone, you see a kind of challah of different sizes, like giant snails, and it's stunning. It is a short hike from the car to the wall. In the area, you will also find the stunning Ramon Crater Colors National Park Enjoy🤗 For more trips in the area press here.
- Easy Raider Sderot
A great attraction and a discount for the Blog readers! The western Negev is now green and spectacular. A new attraction in Sderot can help you get to know the area’s trails in a fun way - Easy Rider. It is a type of electric vehicle that replaces the Segway. It is more comfortable (because you can also sit) and more stable. Traveling with it in the Western Negev is great fun. The guide is a charming guy who knows the trails very well and can take you to any route you want - long or short, easy or extreme. We drove in open and green spaces, heard stories about the different points we reached, and drank coffee in the field. It was insanely fun. For a discount of 12% press here. - Ramon Crater Visitor Center, Hai-Ramon and the Sculptures Park
The visitor center in Mitzpe Ramon overlooks the beautiful view of the crater. The center consists of several halls - the first two are dedicated to Ilan Ramon. They tell the story of his life, the training for the ferry - the life and death of the first Israeli astronaut. The other two halls are devoted to geological issues. One has a movie screened, and the other has beautiful insolation. At the exit, you should look around the magical landscape. A few minutes’ walk from there; you will reach Chai Ramon - a desert garden where you can see small animals part of desert life and among the different types of rodents, snakes, lizards, and more. The children are given a riddle to walk through between the cages A five-minute drive from the visitor center, you will find the Sculpture Park. The park combines wild nature with works of art. Huge stones are scattered in the space, and next to it, there is a fantastic view of the crater. Enjoy🤗 For more trips in the area press here.
- Anemones in Shokda Forest
The anemones are blooming in the Northern Negev. There are no anemone “carpets” of anemones yet. Still, hundreds of anemones are scattered within the forest among huge green fields, and it is stunning. It is great fun to hike in the wood at this time of year. Even the birds enjoy it… For more trips on the area press here. Enjoy🤗
- Avdat National Park
A fascinating walk in the remains of an ancient Nabataean city - a vast space, a variety of rooms, arches, courtyards, caves, and all around: the breathtaking views of the Negev. Avdat National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a stunning hike for the whole family. Avdat was established in the third century BC as a station in the Negev (the Nabataeans opened ancient B & Bs... 😄). It was named after the Nabataean king Avdat. Over the years, Avdat became one of the essential stops on the “Spice Road.” The Nabataeans accepted Christianity, and at the beginning of the 7th century, the city was deserted after an earthquake. We went from yard to yard between the rooms the arches watched the views of the Nahal Tzin gorge and the surrounding area. The children ran around, entered the caves and made ghostly sounds 🤣 and climbed many stones and walls. Beauty further intensifies since there is a crazy view of the area towards sunset. Important tips: ✅Don’t get confused between Avdat national park and Ein Avdat. ✅If you arrive with one car, I believe it is best to start in the upper parking lot, get to the residence area, and then drive to the other side to the bathhouse area. If you come with two cars, you should put one car in the lower parking lot and the other in the upper parking lot, thus saving the walk back. ✅ Because the place is high, it is usually windy. You should bring a hat and not forget to thank me…😄 Enjoy🤗 For more trips in the area press here.
- Be'er Sheva
Be’er Sheba is a fascinating city that combines old and new, and there is much to see in it. I have prepared for you here a list of some recommended places to tour in the city. Locomotive Compound 70414 - A Turkish railway station was built here in 1915. In 2013, a project to rehabilitate the train station complex began. You will find some authentic carriages, and an original steam locomotive numbered 70414. Next to the locomotive, we found a tiny compound with musical instruments designed for children. In the complex, there is a boutique Patisserie and a deli located together - BEEZOO and Gordon Deli. The pastries in the patisserie are excellent and, in the deli, you can find products for a picnic. The complex is currently under renovation and was still under construction within a few months, and the renovation is due to be completed. Beer Sheva Market - always colorful and attractive. You can find groceries, vegetables, fruits, pastries, and much more. There are excellent pitas in the Caucasian bakery, and among the various places to eat, we chose Ida The Broad Heart. It is a beautiful small restaurant for home cooking. Beer Sheva Lake Park - a massive park with a vast lake. There are designated places where you can have a barbecue and, on the meadows, you can have a picnic in front of the lake. Enjoy🤗 For more trips in the area press here.
- The Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation
In Christianity, there are various streams. According to the Greek Orthodox, this was the place Miriam was announced she will give birth to the son of God. When she was pumping water from the nearby spring, Gabriel appeared before her and informed her that she would give birth to the Son of God. This church is smaller and more intimate than the Church of the Annunciation. In my opinion, it is more impressive. Inside, you will find Murals, altars and icons, huge lamps, and a small fountain to which coins are thrown - fascinating. Enjoy🤗
- Basilica of the Annunciation
One of the most sacred and glorious churches in the Christian world. According to the Christian faith, Miriam, the mother of Jesus, received the news that she would give birth to Jesus. The complex is vast and beautiful, and you can take a short tour inside the magnificent church. In the space, you will find various works of art related to the Gospel. Enjoy🤗
- Mount Precipice
One of the holy places of Christianity that also provides a fantastic view of the city. According to Christian tradition, Jesus jumped from the mountain to escape the Romans who persecuted him. Already from the parking lot, there is an amazing view of the whole area. There is a short path with a very moderate ascent that leads up to the top observation point. The highest vantage point provides a 360-degree view of the city and surrounding area. Excellent vantage point and a short and pleasant walk Enjoy🤗
